The Temple of the Imagination, Kew Gardens 2006

Created as a contemporary folly the project took its inspiration from the Chinese Pavillion, or ‘Ting’ as it was affectionately called, a small structure created for Princess Augusta in 1762.

The creation of  the Temple of Imagination was undertaken by a range of different groups - Sofie’s aim was to design a project frame work onto which as many people as possible could make their mark and create something beautiful and memorable together, whilst allowing space for the visitor’s own imagination to take flight!

Artists involved in project – Gina Martin Ceramics, Mark Storor and Jules Maxwell soundscape, Di England Stitches in Time and Oblique. Arcangel created the Temple of Imagination structure.
