Dragon, Clore Learning Centre Hampton Court 2007

Commission to create a new piece of work for the entrance Hall of the Clore Education centre at Hampton Court Palace

Working with the themes and imagery that are presented in the 16th Century painting of “The Field of the Cloth of Gold” the idea of the dragon was developed. The huge flying dragon 9 meters in length was constructed by Arcangel metal workshop. The dragon’s wings were batiked and printed, drawing references from the designs to be found around the Palace. Created with textile artist Nicola Griffiths.
